What this section is
Plain-language answers and calculators for Indian citizens and OCI cardholders who live and earn abroad and keep money, loans or property in India: home loans, NRE/NRO/FCNR(B) accounts, selling property, returning to India and the Kerala pravasi pension. The rest of this site is about loans in the Gulf; the method is the same — total cost first, every rule dated and sourced.

Who runs this site
Built by a Dubai resident since 2014 who has taken a car loan, refinanced personal loans, and taken out a mortgage and a remortgage here, each with a rate that looked lower than it was. Where the rules come from
Only official sources: the Reserve Bank of India (FEMA Master Directions, FAQs and its 2025 Directions for banks and housing finance companies), the FEM (Non-debt Instruments) Rules 2019, the Income Tax Department (the Income-tax Act 2025 in force from 1 April 2026), the Gazette of India (the Finance Act 2026), the Ministry of Home Affairs' OCI portal and the Kerala Pravasi Welfare Board. Each rule shows the source link and the date we last checked it. Where no official number exists — interest rates, exchange rates, your tax slab — the page asks for your own figure and says so.
How the calculators work
Instalments use the standard monthly formula on the reducing balance. Tax figures apply the published rates (tax, surcharge, cess) to the amounts you enter; they are estimates, not your final tax. Exchange rates are always yours: we show no default rate.
