How much can I borrow? Debt Burden Ratio (SBP)

Updated

How much loan can I get on my salary in Pakistan?

SBP caps all consumer-financing installments at 40% of your net disposable income, and at 65% once a home finance installment is included. On PKR 200,000 a month with PKR 20,000 already going to installments, that leaves PKR 60,000 a month — about PKR 1,971,715 of personal financing over 48 months at an example 20% mark-up.

Official rule: All consumer-financing repayments together should not exceed 40% of the borrower's net disposable income (SBP Prudential Regulations for Consumer Financing R-3, as amended by BPRD Circular Letter 29 of 2021). (source, checked 2026-10-21)

SBP's limits come from its Prudential Regulations for Consumer Financing (as amended by BPRD Circular Letters 26 of 2020, 29 of 2021 and 19 of 2022), the Prudential Regulations for Housing Finance 2026 and the Business Conduct and Fair Treatment of Consumers framework (BC&FRF, 2025). Your bank's Key Fact Statement and its own credit review are what count.

Installments on this page follow the standard monthly formula on the reducing balance. Your bank counts mark-up or profit day by day between the actual payment dates and rounds each amount, so its own schedule can differ slightly. Only your signed offer and Key Fact Statement are binding.

    • Consumer financing: All consumer-financing repayments together should not exceed 40% of the borrower's net disposable income (SBP Prudential Regulations for Consumer Financing R-3, as amended by BPRD Circular Letter 29 of 2021).
    • With a home: With housing finance, the housing installment plus all other consumer-financing obligations may not exceed 65% of net disposable income.
