How much personal finance can I get on my salary?
Instalments taken from your salary may not exceed one third (33.33%) of your gross salary (25% of a pension), over at most 60 months. On a SAR 10,000 salary with no other finance or cards that is SAR 3,333 a month, or about SAR 172,401 at an example 6% term cost. If you also have home finance, all your credit payments together may take 55% of an income up to SAR 15,000 or 65% up to SAR 25,000.

Official rule: Consumer finance instalments taken from your salary (home finance not counted) may not exceed one third (33.33%) of your gross salary. (source, checked 2026-10-09)
With a SAR 15,000 gross salary, no other finance and SAR 20,000 of credit-card limits, the SAMA rules allow personal finance instalments of up to SAR 3,999.50 a month — about SAR 206,876 over 60 months at an example 6% term cost. The one-third salary rule is the limit that bites here, and the cards count against it even if unused.

The limits that apply
Instalments on this page follow the standard monthly formula on the reducing balance. Your bank counts interest or profit day by day between the actual payment dates and rounds each amount, so its own schedule can differ slightly. Only your signed offer is binding.
Not a valid document. Estimate for information only — not financial advice, not an offer of credit and not a bank document. Errors are possible. Only your bank's or finance company's official offer letter, contract and statements are binding.
Finance, not a loan. Most Saudi consumer finance is tamweel (تمويل) rather than a loan (قرض): the lender's charge is called the term cost (profit), not interest. SAMA's rules make it behave like a loan on the reducing balance, so the same maths applies.
The SAMA limits in plain words
- One third of your salary: consumer finance instalments taken from your salary, plus the minimum payments on your credit cards, may not exceed 33.33% of your gross salary — 25% of a pension. Home finance is not counted here.
- 45% for everything except home finance: all your monthly credit payments except a home loan may not exceed 45% of your total monthly income (incomes below SAR 25,000).
- With home finance: all payments together at most 55% of income up to SAR 15,000 (65% with Ministry of Housing / REDF support) and 65% between SAR 15,000 and 25,000. From SAR 25,000 the lender sets its own limit.
- Other income counts half: only half of rent, investment income, or periodic allowances and bonuses that are not part of your gross salary is counted.
- Credit cards count even unused: each card counts as the minimum payment on its full limit, in every limit above.
- 60 months at most for personal and car finance.
